Snow

We got a dusting of snow this week. Spence and I noticed the snow coming down Thursday night and I decided the boys needed to see it. Spence told me I was on my own if things went poorly. I raced up the stairs and tried to get those boys up. I sat them up in bed and shook them. Neither one even opened their eyes!
The next morning the snow was basically ice and melted away pretty quick. We bundled the boys up while Ellie napped and let them play for a while. We did take Ellie out and let her touch the snow. She was fairly unimpressed.

Emie and Ellie

We weren't able to spend quite as much time as we would have liked with the Eayrs. Between kiddos getting sick, adults getting sick, Christmas, plus traveling there just weren't many days in there. We got to have lunch one day and then a couple visits. It will just have to hold us over until either we can get over there or they get back here :-/
Emie is a walking machine. She started while they were here which was wonderful for Amber's parents to get to see. Ellie didn't know what to think of someone her size running circles around her. It was so awesome getting to see my best friend be a mom. And she is such a good mom.
The last picture is my favorite. We will say this is what happened when we told Emie she was going back home, but really she was just having a moment and we plunked her down for the photo op :)

11 months girl

We can hardly believe that in 1 month, Ellie will be a year old.  It seems like she has just been here for so long.  And then at the same time it seems like yesterday that I was miserable and wanting her to come on out!  She is so laid back and sweet.  She just goes with whatever we are doing, which is good in this crazy world that she is living in.  She is wearing mostly 12 month clothing and size 3 diapers.  She still takes 2 naps and sleeps all night.  She gave up nursing a couple weeks ago and that has been a challenge.  She has never liked bottles and doesn't seem to like cups.  After trying 13 different ones, we have discovered that she will drink from a straw.  This was after getting desperate a few times and feeding her liquids through medicine droppers.  (so I guess she isn't laid back in this area, ha).  She still doesn't crawl, but scoots everywhere on her bottom.

Girl loves a bath

Deep thoughts with Ellie

Cruising everywhere

Still a pretty good sleeper overall.  We have had to go back and do some sleep training, which is no fun, but so worth it to get her back on track

She loves a bow and will point to her hair when you ask her where her bow is.

She is all over the place.  She may not crawl, but there is no stopping her

Poor thing is flexible and willing to do whatever her brothers or parents think is funny

That sweet face!

Starting the year off with a bang

Literally, we started the year with a bang.  Ben was running around and playing when he slipped.  He fell and hit his head on our hardwoods.  This is nothing new in our house.  Him standing up and then immediately crumbling to the floor passed out, not so norm.  Spence began trying to wake him, and I grabbed him and ran outside.  The cool air revived him and he began fussing that he was cold.  He seemed ok, so we started dinner and called the dr.  The dr told us to stop feeding him and take a direct trip to the ER.  After getting checked out, it was determined that he did have a concussion, but would be ok.  Ben was so brave the whole time at the ER, I think largely because I told him we would get ice cream after we left.  Here's hoping the rest of 2013 isn't as eventful.

Ben was a champ in the ER

He was most excited about getting icecream as a treat after the hospital
