ER trip #2

I guess that we have decided to take a yearly fall trip to the ER. Last October we had this experience when Zeke was 8 weeks. Today we went to the dr because Zeke had been running a low fever since Thursday. Yesterday he began running a slightly higher and had barely any voice. Through out the night, he coughed a lot and took very shallow short breaths. I called this morning and we were seen around 11:30. It was decided that he has croup, which doesn't have a treatment for the virus, but we can treat the symptoms. They sent us straight to the ER for streoids and to see if a breathing treatment was needed. After waiting forever (I know ERs are busy, but come on, my kid is 1 year old and didn't eat from a very small snack before the dr visit until 3 when I kindly pointed out that we had yet to see a dr, so what did it matter if he ate!!!???), we were finally seen and treated. Zeke was even able to sleep a bit after the drugs and treatment (shocker for everyone!) Finally after 6 hours at the ER we are back home. Thank you so much for everyone who has texted, emailed, called, or left us messages. We truly are blessed to have so many people that we can call on to go before the Lord on our behalf. We know that He is in control and that His plan is perfect. We know He is the great physician. We know that He loves our sweet son more than even we do. We are so thankful that we have been covered in prayer and continue to be.

FINALLY, they told us it would be ok to give him a little food

This was the breathing treatment (hooka pipe as Spence called it)
During the entire process, Zeke was such a champ. He was in a good mood the majority of time. Considering all he had to eat all day was applesauce and graham crackers , about an hour total of naps, and was being poked and prodded all day. The doctors at the ER even commented on what a pleasant kiddo he was. In the midst of the chaos, God definitely gave us some sweet blessings that helped us to stay calm.

Poor baby

This is what I have at my house right now. Poor thing! He has such a yucky cold. We are keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't go into croup. He is currently sleeping, but his cough is so pitiful. Pray that he will feel better soon, after coming right off of a stomach bug, this is no fun!

Watch Out, Bill Cosby

Seriously my kid could make a commercial for pudding. He and I shared a cup the other day and when I told him it was "all done", he had a meltdown. He really didn't like that I got up and threw the container away. I could barely resist giving him some more, so instead I took pictures.

"Seriously, it's all gone?"

"NO MORE PUDDING?"

"OH the horror!"

"WHY? WHY?"

We like, we like to party...

Spence and I feel blessed with many good friends who are really part of our family. The Gastons are some of these people. We are priveleged to be able to walk life with them, especially over this past year. Jason and Katie's son, Holt, is Zeke's bff. They are so cute together and it has been fun to watch them progress over not noticing each other to now taking toys and running all over each other. Holt is 2 weeks younger than Zeke. On his actual birthday, he was a poor sick baby, but thankfully he was all better and ready to throw down at his party this past Sunday. Here are just a couple pics from the fun that was had...
Zeke: Hey can I get some of that?
Holt: I'll trade you some cake for that ball

Z's favorite part of any party

Holt's favorite part of his party (in my opinion) was a card that played music. I loved watching him dance, it was so cute!!! My favorite is how he shakes his shoulders.

What's up ladies?

Zeke got Spence's hat the other day. I was able to snap a quick couple of pictures before he yanked it off. Check out those eyes! Mamas lock your little girls up, he's gonna be a heartbreaker.

Visit from Pawpaw

Zeke's Pawpaw made a surprise visit Monday while Yaya and Sierra were at the house. Zeke enjoyed getting to hang out.

Where's Zeke?

Zeke has a new trick. We have played peekaboo forever. He started covering his head with a blanket recently. Then he started using his hands over the past week or so. He doesn't do it on command (just like with everything else, he only does things when he feels like it). He tends to do it more while eating or while riding in the car. Oh and please excuse the stalker look to this video.
