Big boy

Zeke is looking like such a big boy this week. Check him out in his big boy clothes and sitting in the big chair in the bathtub.

Doesn't he look so grown up?!

I love this smile!

Man, I love him

Not 100% sure about the chair.

He looks kind of like he took this duck hostage doesn't he?

The Zeke hit the fan

Not really. But Zeke has a new obsession. He loves our fan. He always has, but now it has come to a new level. He loves the pull chain things. Spence thinks it's fun to let him reach for them (no the fan is not on when he does this, calm down). Zeke has recently started arching his back and trying to see what is behind him by flying backwards.

Can I eat these?

Where'd they go?

Oh, there's my mom!

Sleeping Beauty

Zeke has continued to be a great sleeper this week! There was even a night where he slept 8 pm to 6 am. He is napping wonderfully. AND he wakes up so happy. Check out what he looks like each time I go in. My heart just sings when I walk in and get to see this smile!

Zeke loves his blanket. They are necessary for sleeping in our house.

This was just too cute not to take

My boy
Who wouldn't want to wake up like this?

Roly Poly

Zeke has learned something new this week. Yesterday before I was leaving for work, he rolled from belly to back for the first time. I was able to catch it on video his second time. Then he decided that was all the rolling he would do for the day. Spence only got to see it on video. Then this morning I brought him down and immediately set up the blanket to see what would happen. He is a rolling fool. We can't keep him on his belly any longer. I was able to catch him again on video this morning. When Spence got back from church, he got to see him too!

Jump around, jump around, jump up, jump up and get down

Zeke loves his jumper more each day. He has finally figured out how to actually jump. It is pretty funny. He kind of jumps more off of one foot. So, it is really funny to watch.

He loves chewing on the sun

When he jumps off that one foor, he tends to lose his sock.

Jason also loves Moe's

Sleep, Sleep, Beautiful Sleep

No pic today... are rare thing here, but I just wanted to tell everyone we had a GREAT sleep night and day so far! Z went down at 8 last night and we did not hear a peep until 3. That's 7 hours. Then he didn't wake up again until 7:30. That's another 3 and a half hours! Then he napped from 9:30 until 11:00 and then napped again from 12:30-2:30. Hurray!!!!!

cuddly bear

This is Zeke in his cold weather gear. Yes, it has ears. How cute is he?

Time with dad

Zeke has been spending some time with dad this week. Two of thefollowing videos happened with out mom supervision... Not sure about the influence we have here.

Zeke and Spence have their own way of communicating. Spence calls it crowing like Peter Pan, I think it sounds more like a dog howling. You can help us decide.

Spence also conducted an experiment with Zeke and the camera. Could he have a future on the big screen?

Zeke likes a little monkey that hangs on his carseat. If you pull it down it vibrates back up. When he first started noticing it, he would just pull it then hold on. It would shake but not go back up because he was holding it too tight. Then Spence decided since Zeke is trying to eat everything, that we should put the monkey's tail in Zeke's mouth. This is what happened...

My buddy, my buddy, my buddy and me!

Here are two of our wild kids from the church nursery. Look how big they are getting! Holt is Zeke's best buddy. I am pretty sure that the two of them will be tearing up those nursery halls creating all kinds of mischief soon.

What you looking at?

Hey, Holt, you gonna finish that, or can I get in on it?

Holt, this is my mom, she takes pictures, you gotta watch out for her.

Avocado

We have been doing this whole solid food thing extremely slowly. We started with rice cereal in December. My plan was to do rice cereal for a month and then start adding in other foods every four days. We moved onto bananas in January. Then we changed from rice cereal to oatmeal. Then Zeke got sick and was put on antibiotics. Before moving onto to something else, I wanted to be sure that he wasn't allergic to the meds. So, finally today, we have tried our next food. Avocado was next on our list. He actually seemed to enjoy it. Be on the look out for sweet potatoes in a few days, YUM!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I am not really a fan of snow. If you know me I would prefer 80+ degree weather. Even snow doesn't make me like cold weather. But if it means Spence gets to stay home, we are all for it! This isn't technically Zeke's first snow, but it is the first one to stick. Shamgar has also enjoyed the snow and has played some this morning.

Here is Shamgar in the snow. Immediately following this, he decided to bark at the snow and at the bushes that had snow on them. It was pretty funny!

Friends

Zeke is blessed with some pretty good friends already. Addy and Isaac enjoying talking to Zeke and singing to him. Addy made up a song about him talking already and walking soon. It was really cute.

Singing together

They totally did this with out any prompting. They saw I had the camera and struck their poses.

I got to go to a fun shower this weekend and Jena-Marie was there. I love how much she loves him. Zeke got to hang out with Amber and Sarah also, but this was the photo op. JM was playing with him with his keys and realized he was getting sleepy. She put him to sleep and he continued to hold the keys. How sweet is that?!

Another first

Zeke has his first ear infection. AND it's a double ear infection. He has been a little more fussy, had a runny nose, and a little bit of a cough since Monday. Yesterday he refused to nurse each time I tried. So after him not eating for 7 hours, I called the dr. He is now on a schedule of ibuprofen, tylenol, and a prescription. Hopefully, he will be feeling better soon!

Christmas...

finally came for Zeke! So, we are slacker parents. But we figure he won't really remember it anyway. He is really enjoying his gift as you can see from the pictures and video below.

"Sun, what you talkin' 'bout?"

"Woo Hoo!"

5 months!

Zeke turned 5 months yesterday! It is so weird to think about how it was a year ago this time when we told everyone that we were pregnant. How fun it was when Spence announced there would be a new SummitLIFE member. I can't believe that now a year later, we have our little man and he is such a joy!
Zeke has gotten into a MUCH better sleeping routine. For those of you that know what we have been through and especially those that saw me last Sunday (I was up 11 times in a 5 hour period Sat. night), this is a HUGE blessing. No, this does not mean that he is sleeping through the night. He is still waking up every 3-4 hours to eat, and more to the 3 hour side. But this is such an improvement that I am not complaining whatsoever.
Zeke began eating bananas this week. And wow does he love them! There is no wasting them at all. Just an update on his pooping for those that care, we have stopped rice cereal and are going to start oatmeal, thanks to some good advice from friends. And we haven't had any problems since, but boy do bananas not look as nice on the flipside.
Since we do not go to the dr until 6 months, you will just have to wait until then for stats.
With out further ado, pictures from this week...

Zeke loves this and has quickly learned how to hit the drum and piano. He either sits in his bumbo or we are working on him sitting with little support from someone behind him.

This picture explains itself.

Eating bananas!

After eating bananas.

Zeke hung out with his dad this morning. Doesn't he look like such a big boy?

Check him out chilling on the couch.

New Years

We hung out at the Doherty's for New Years. No, we did not make it to 12, but we did make it longer than the Gaston's! Kelly and Evan also joined the baby parade for some great hanging out and competing. The guys technically won, but really the girls did because the boys had three extra team members.

Here are the dads and their boys.
Spence and Zeke, Jason and Holt, Ryan and Samuel

Here they are just chilling (please note how huge Z looks!)

This is how Z and H greet each other, with a chest bump

Z this week

Zeke got a pottery barn chair from Nana and Grandpa for Christmas.
He looks like a guy just sitting back watching the game.

Thanks Nana and Grandpa!

Z decided to help his dad feed him. I missed him grabbing the spoon and shoving it into his mouth. I also missed him pulling his bib to his mouth and sucking on it. This kid can eat!

Zeke's cousin Elizabeth came from California for Christmas. She LOVED hanging out with him.

Will preferred to hang with Spence instead of Zeke

So, we have been having issues. I think the cereal has stopped up Zeke. He didn't go for a week. I called the dr and they said try prune juice. You can see from his expression how much he liked it.
For those that care, we ended up giving him Karo syrup with his milk and he gave us an explosion like no other with in 24 hours, we are taking it a little more slowly with the cereal for now.
